Programme Overview

The Social Media for E-Commerce Programme is a fully funded learning initiative created to help Newham residents develop practical digital-marketing and social-media skills progressing from foundational learning to professional certification.

Learners begin with Level 2, gaining confidence and core digital abilities, and can progress to Level 3, where they master strategy, analytics, and content-management expertise through a nationally recognised qualification.

This structured pathway ensures learners build employable, real-world skills that meet the needs of UK’s fast-growing digital and creative economy.

About the Programme

The Social Media for E-Commerce Programme equips adults with the skills to succeed in today’s online business world through hands-on, career-focused learning.

Delivered locally in Newham, the programme combines creativity, digital technology, and employability training so learners can manage and grow online brands effectively.

It is structured in two progression stages:

  • Level 2 – Social Media Marketing Fundamentals (Onsite): A beginner-friendly introduction to social-media and e-commerce marketing. Learners create content, set up business profiles, and understand how social platforms drive business success.
  • Level 3 – Certificate in Social Media for E-Commerce (Hybrid): Open to learners who successfully complete Level 2, this stage advances into content strategy, analytics, and digital-campaign management. It leads to a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification aligned with Gateway Qualifications (603/6770/2).

Across both stages, the programme emphasises practical learning, live projects, and employability. Learners use tools like Canva, Meta Business Suite, TikTok, and CMS platforms, while receiving support in CV building, portfolio creation, and mock interviews with employer partners.

The initiative supports Newham’s vision for inclusive adult learning, enabling women, career changers, and individuals from diverse communities to access high-quality digital-skills training.

Upon completing Level 3, learners are ready for roles such as Social Media Assistant, Digital Marketing Executive, E-Commerce Coordinator, and Junior Content Marketer, typically earning £23,000 – £30,000 per year.

How much does it cost?
